CAN I COLLECT ON A JUDGEMENT OBTAINED IN THE UNITED AGAINST SOMEONE WHO HAS ASSETS IN GREECE?

Our Firm has been successful in collecting on such judgments on behalf of corporations, individuals, insurance companies and banks. We have also represented States and government agencies in collecting such judgments in Greece. Initially it is required that we first obtain a proof that the judgment in the U.S is a final and non-appeallable judgment. We also have to make sure that the U.S action was properly served under the Hague Convention, in Greece. Careful evaluation of the U.S. Court legal papers and dockets is required. Also, if this is true, and the U.S docket reveals the foregoing, then we are able to take the judgment and recognize it in Greece pursuant to the appropriate Greek civil procedural code rules applicable to recognition. We have also been successful in filing preliminary injunctions in Greece (ασφαλιστικά μέτρα) pending final recognition of U.S judgments in Greece.
