U.S.-Greece Property Management Lawyers

Protecting Your Property for You and Your Family

Under Greek law, property management refers to protecting and passing on property. There are essentially two elements of property management in Greece: estate planning and gifts — parental gifts in particular. At Hahalis & Kounoupis, P.C. — Greek Law Group, our lawyers are trusted by Greek Americans nationwide to handle property management involving real estate and other assets in both the United States and Greece.

In the U.S., property management typically refers to the management of rental properties. Our lawyers are able to assist Greek Americans with the management of rental properties in Greece. This is an aspect of our U.S-Greece real estate practice.

Estate Planning and Parental Gifts

We are the only law firm licensed to practice in Greece and the United States that has a presence in both countries. That allows us to address all issues related to estate planning for Greek Americans, including the creation of wills and trusts.

We can also assist with the giving of gifts. Parental gifts are different from other gifts in that taxation on parental gifts tends to be much more favorable. This can be a beneficial way of passing property on to the next generation. However, depending on the property being gifted, it can come with complications. For example, real estate included in a gift may require execution of a notarial deed. Furthermore, it must be properly registered. With more than 25 years of experience on our side, we know all the steps that need to be taken to correctly handle parental gifts and other gifts.

Our goal is to work with you on a property management plan that makes the most sense for you. Depending on your Greek and American property and your situation, your plan may ultimately involve a combination of gifting and estate planning.
